The City's Law Director is the legal advisor, attorney, and counsel for all of the affairs of the municipality and employees and represents them in all legal proceedings resulting from the exercise of their official duties and capacities.
The Law Director prepares all contracts, ordinances, and resolutions prior to their being referred to Council.
Benjamin Chojnacki who is an associate in Walter & Haverfield’s Public Law, Litigation, and Sports Law groups began as the City's Law Director following the retirement of James Gillette in September 2019. Mr. Chojnacki has an extensive background and has counseled municipalities, public entities, and private corporations on all aspects of public law.
